Extra academic support to help WSPA students reach their learning goals.

We Are Here to Help

The Extended Learning Program provides students with additional support through tutoring, enrichment, Saturday Academy, student-athlete academic support, and targeted attendance/tardy intervention.

Support Looks Different for Every Student

Some students need help finishing assignments. Some need reading and math practice. Some need support getting to school on time. The goal is the same: help students grow.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT

After-School Tutoring Program

Who it is for: Any WSPA student who needs additional academic support.

What students should do: See your teacher for specific tutoring times.

Note: All WSPA teachers offer tutoring outside of regular class time at least once each week. After-school snack is provided.

STUDENT-ATHLETE SUPPORT

Tutoring for Student-Athletes

Expectation: Student-athletes participate in academic tutoring before practice.

Focus: Students complete assignments and strengthen their reading and math skills.

Reminder: Being a student comes first. Academic support helps students stay eligible, prepared, and successful.

ATTENDANCE & TARDY SUPPORT

Forward Focus Tardy Intervention Program

Purpose: Students who are consistently late to school will participate in interventions to help them improve on-time attendance.

1st Block Tardies Intervention
3 tardies Parent/guardian contact
6 tardies In-person parent/guardian conference
9 tardies 30 minutes after school at Forward Focus
12 tardies 45 minutes after school at Forward Focus
15 tardies 45 minutes after school at Forward Focus Give-Back
16+ tardies Social Worker begins Tier 3 WSFCS attendance and tardy process. Every 3 additional tardies equals 45 minutes at Forward Focus Give-Back.

What Students Should Do Next

  1. Ask your teacher when tutoring is offered.
  2. Bring assignments, missing work, or questions to tutoring.
  3. Student-athletes should report to tutoring before practice.
  4. Arrive at the 1st block on time every day to avoid Forward Focus interventions.
